Marina & the Diamonds @ Granada Dallas

I would like to apologize for not posting anything yesterday I got caught up in the new stylophone I got the other day, I enjoy messing with that thing wayyy too much. Also I would like to give a quick shoutout to folktronic band Ishi, (the Dallas locals that opened for Marina). They were... interesting, to say the least, thanks for an awsome warm up for the main event.

The setting: A room full of loud mouthed gays, a hodgepodge of Granada regulars, and pretentious young girls. As the band was setting up behind a large projector advertising future shows, the sounds of Yelle were echoing throughout the theater and we were ready, every person in the place was here for one reason and one reason only, Marina was behind that projector and we all knew it, you could cut the tension with a knife. suddenly the music stops, the projector retracts to the ceiling and the lights dim to reveal the band surounding an empty microphone. Cue fog machine. The crowd biting their nails with anticipation, seconds later a shadowy Marina emerges wearing large sunglasses, the crowd explodes with deafening proportions. Cue music. I have to be honest, hearing Marina's voice in person is a religious experience, it's far better than any recordings heard previous. Like an English angel sent from above she stormed the the place with an erratic and entertaining stage presence. I loved every second of it, minus the gays standing behind me yapping about the guy who just whipped his dick out in the bathroom, I would like to thank Granada for the incredible opportunity to be obliterated by this woman's voice.
