Oh Land @ SXSW

After getting Giant black X's put my hands I walked into the Prefix Magazine day party at club ND, completely bustling with people. I had walked in right after Gobble Gobble's performance (extremely disappointed that I just missed that) and Oh Land was scheduled to perform next. As I was waiting in line for the restroom I heard some deep voices begin rapping and shouting. But Das Racist wasn't on the schedule for another hour, had I missed Oh Land? That's what I began to tell myself. Discouraged I left the line and watched three indian guys and a white guy (that had a striking resemblance to Shaun White) jump around on stage holding the mic too close to their mouths to be audible. A terrible performance by Das Racist.

Prior to that someone came on over the loud speaker saying that Oh Land had been running late and that they would be performing next, I wiped a bead of sweat from my brow. I didn't waste my time after all. While we waited for Oh Land to finish setting up we paid a visit to the Self Portrait Project and took our picture using a two way mirror and a little hand held button (pictured left).

Oh land came on with a giant wave of excitement from the crowd everyone snapping pictures and smiling. My first show at south by and it was off the charts, I didn't expect the sound quality of such a hasty set-up to be so wonderful. After watching the performance we picked our jaws up off the floor and waited for Asobi Seksu who gave a moderate performance in comparison.
